State of
Illinois
Recognizes Chambers and Their Contribution to
Illinois
Commerce
September 15, 2009
,
Mt. Prospect, Ill-- Illinois Governor Pat Quinn has proclaimed September 14
through September 18, 2009
as Chamber of Commerce Week throughout Illinois.
The Mount Prospect Chamber has joined the Illinois
Association of Chamber of Commerce Executives (IACCE) and the Illinois Chamber
of Commerce in celebrating this special recognition of the contributions
chambers of commerce make to Illinois
civic and economic life.
In his Proclamation, the Governor declared, “Chambers of
Commerce have contributed to the civic and economic life in Illinois
for 171 years, since the Galena Chamber of Commerce was founded in 1838. Chambers of commerce encourage the growth of
existing industries, services, and commercial firms and encourage new
businesses and individuals to locate in Illinois.”
IACCE President, Liz Kerns,
said, “We are extraordinarily proud of the accomplishments of each chamber
across our great state. Each chamber
should take this week to celebrate these accomplishments in their individual
communities as well as all chambers across the state and country. The chamber industry is part of the back bone
of each community in which they serve.”
The Mount Prospect Chamber has a special display for the
entire month at the Mount Prospect Public Library in meeting room A, the large
room. The display features awards that the Chamber has received over the past
few years, as well as some of the publications, and promotional materials the
chamber uses to support businesses. The Chamber also has an After Hours on
Tuesday September 15th at Capannari Ice Cream celebrating Chamber
Week.
The Mount Prospect
Chamber of Commerce’s mission is to promote, support and enrich the local
business community through the delivery of quality services, effective
communication and through the establishment of partnerships with individuals,
community organizations, fellow chamber members and governmental bodies.
