Small Biz Tip: Organization: Implement a Filing System

The Small Business tips today will be about keeping an organized filing system in the workplace.

  1. Sort your files & throw away what you don't need. Keep legal documents & save tax returns for at least 7 years.
  2. Establish a constant organization method. Sort files into categories & label into color codes, alphabetically, or file type.
  3. It is okay to file within files. For example, "Invoices" can contain "2006", "2007", and "2008" files. Be consist ant.
  4. File everything in its correct spot after organizing. Keep up with the method you implemented to find your information.
