America's Best Companies Hosts First VIP Business Event

ABC brought together some of the most influential leaders, politicians, and small business activists in the Chicagoland area.

America’s Best Companies hosted it’s first ever event on August 13, 2008, bringing together some of the most influential leaders, politicians, and small business activists in the Chicagoland area to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the 1933 Chicago World’s Fair “Century of Progress” Exposition.

The 1933 Exposition provided a much needed economic boost, as it allowed local businesses to promote their products to a national audience and stimulated the local tourism industry in the depths of a depression.

The ABC affair was historic in that it was held in the heart of where the 1933 event took place, where Grant Park meets the Museum Campus in downtown Chicago.

Season One Apprentice winner, Bill Rancic, gave a stirring speech explaining why his experience working for a large corporation led him to become a champion for small business. Rancic also posed for pictures and signed copies of his book, Beyond the Lemonade Stand for attendees.

In addition to Rancic’s speech, Jim Tracy, president of America’s Best Companies, spoke of his aspirations for small business and keeping the American Dream alive and how, if we all rally together, we can make a difference.

Guests enjoyed the sounds of Martini Manifesto, a Chicago-based jazz group, a wide array of delicious food catered by Cuisine America and an open bar. The signature drink of the evening was called the “World’s Fair.” Here is the recipe: 1 part 360 Vodka (The world’s first eco-friendly premium spirit), 3 parts pink lemonade, 1 part fruit punch, and garnish with a tangerine wedge. The night wrapped up with a fantastic view of the fireworks display at Navy Pier.

We look forward to holding more exciting events like this in the future. In the meantime, keep up to date on the latest business news and what’s going on at ABC by checking out our blog and subscribing to the ABC eWeekly at gowithabc.com.
