The Mount Prospect Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce that it has partnered with Aback & Associates to provide its many members with the myIDsite identity theft program for chamber members.

The myIDsite identity theft product was designed to be the “gold standard of the identity theft industry,” said Larry Harb, Founder and CEO of the myIDsite products.

The myIDsite products for individuals are available from the Mount Prospect Chamber of Commerce website on the Business Resources page. The chamber will feature the myIDsite Executive Benefit Plan, which is an employee benefit plan designed for chamber members with up to 10 employees and is exclusively available by contacting Aback & Associates located in Mount Prospect, Illinois. Other employee benefit products are also available for larger companies.

Identity theft continues to afflict millions of U.S. consumers, according to a new study released January 2007 by Javelin Strategy & Research.  The research firm reported 8.4 million people were victims of the crime last year, echoing a study by the Federal Trade Commission indicating 10.1 million consumers had been hit in 2003.  In all, one in every eight consumers will be a victim of an identity theft event within five years, according to the FTC.  The study also showed that resolving problems related to identity theft events can be very expensive and
time-consuming.

The myIDsite identity theft product consists of four modules.  The Awareness and Prevention modules are focused on education. Subscribers will become educated about the crime of identity theft and become Identity Theft Protected. “Awareness is the key to prevention and prevention is what this product is all about,” said Harb.

It also provides subscribers with Recovery and Insurance modules.  These two modules are focused on the recovery process should the subscriber become an identity theft victim.  The Recovery module provides subscribers with information on whom to contact, what to tell them and in what order to contact them in, in order to regain their identity. There is also a plan that will assign a recovery specialist to do the majority of that work for you.

In addition, the insurance module provides subscribers with financial reimbursement of up to $25,000 per family member for out-of-pocket, legal fees and miscellaneous expenses incurred while resolving an identity theft event.  The products provide coverage for up to two adults and/or children under the age of 23 who permanently live in the same residence as the enrollee.

As a bonus, subscribers of myIDsite identity theft product will receive the Computer Protection Plan™, designed to keep subscribers educated about their personal computer.  The Computer Protection Plan™ provides subscribers with e-mail virus alerts, and up to a $1,000 sub limit for virus and physical damage to home computers.
