The Mount Prospect Chamber of Commerce is the independent association of area businesses devoted to promoting free enterprise, as well as fostering the growth and development of the community.

The Chamber strives to educate the general public and Chamber members on the importance of business and the maintenance of a favorable climate in which business can flourish. The Chamber believes a healthy economic environment is vital to the Village, allowing successful businesses to contribute financially to civic development.

Its membership is of foremost importance to the Chamber. Acting as a public relations bureau for the village's business, the Chamber is charged with finding ways to enhance trade and expand the income potential of Mount Prospect Businesses. The Chamber is instrumental in improving the business environment to enhance the growth of existing businesses and attract new businesses to the village.

In addition to presenting a public image, the Chamber is the advocate and protector of area commerce. Serving as a legislative monitor, the Chamber represents business in village, county, state and national political arenas on issues of business concern.

Developing the skills and resources of the individual Chamber member is a priority of the organization. Educational programs are designed to train the small businessperson in sales and operational techniques. Networking is encouraged in a social setting at the Chamber's after hours Mixers. The annual Business Expo is an opportunity for member businesses to spotlight their services and products in a "Showcase" atmosphere.

Keeping the lines of communication open between business and the community is an important function of the Chamber. For this purpose, the Chamber sponsors public candidate forums and special programs designed to address timely issues and controversial topics. It also generates literature in the form of a monthly electronic newsletter and an annual Community Guide and Directory for use by the membership and for a wide Mount Prospect readership.

Mount Prospect is a neighborhood built on a base of entrepreneurship, and many of the businesspeople who work here are also residents. Through the Chamber, business is able to participate in an organized effort to give service and resources back to the community that supports it, making Mount Prospect a better place to live and do business.
